L200 Coach Course

L200 Certified coaches in the IFSA community exemplify advanced expertise in delivering safe and effective Freeride coaching. While L100 certification denotes entry-level written skills, the L200 course goes further by confirming a coach’s ability to handle scenarios in a live environment and certifying the necessary physical skills for competent Freeride coaching.

The impact of the L200 course extends beyond individual coaching proficiency, contributing to an elevated standard for Big Mountain Freeride coaches. This heightened standard has proven to enhance the quality of coaching in various programs and, importantly, has a positive influence on mitigating insurance liability concerns.

Noteworthy programs such as Palisades Tahoe, Smugglers’ Notch, and Jay Peak have recognized the value of IFSA L100 and L200 certifications by incorporating them into the pay scales of their coaching staff. To further strengthen the coaching landscape, we are actively engaging with clubs and teams to integrate IFSA coach certifications into their compensation structures, aligning with established practices observed in organizations like PSIA and USSA.

For additional information, please reach out to Josh Mattson, a valued member of our Board of Directors. The growing number of L100 and L200 certified coaches not only bolsters the credibility of our sport but also plays a crucial role in ensuring comprehensive insurance coverage.

Ticketing benefits and venue access is contingent on having an IFSA Coach Membership. LiveHeats did not migrate any existing coach accounts from the 2022-2023 season, as results are not tied to these. Please create a new account or if you have a child in LiveHeats you can add your membership to the same login. Get your memberships before the competition season, preferably by Dec 31. Coach Membership pricing is set to increase on January 1.

As a coach you’ll need both IFSA and regional memberships.

Need verification for an employer? First, make sure you have completed your certification course and purchased a membership. We are in a holding pattern for issuing digital certification documents though you are welcome to have your employer contact Carol@ifsafreeride.org for a verification.
