EMPOWERING FREERIDERS

Our Mission

ROOTED in Progression

The International Freeskiers & Snowboarders Association (IFSA) was founded in 1996 by Shane McConkey and Lhotse Merriam Hawk. They envisioned an organization built to serve athletes, with their needs at the core. More than 30 years later, the IFSA has evolved into a nonprofit dedicated to carrying forward that vision — ensuring that the freerider remains our bottom line.

Our Mission

IFSA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing the sport of big mountain freeride by sanctioning competitions across North and South America, supporting athlete development, and upholding the highest standards of safety, integrity, and progression.

Our Vision

IFSA envisions a thriving global freeride community where athletes of all ages, backgrounds, and regions have access to safe, progressive, and inspiring competitive opportunities, fostering lifelong participation and leadership in the sport.
