2024-2025 FREERIDE SEASON KICKING OFF IN SOUTH AMERICA

IFSA Kicks Off 2024-2025 Southern Hemisphere Freeride Season!

The International Freeskiers and Snowboarders Association (IFSA) is thrilled to announce the start of the 2024-2025 freeride season in the Southern Hemisphere, with exciting events slated for Chile and Argentina from July through September.

Chile’s El Colorado Mountain Center will host two major events: the inaugural Junior Andes Freeride Week (August 6-11) and the Qualifier Series Andes Freeride Week (August 20-26). In a strategic partnership with El Colorado, Freeride Chile is launching a multi-year development plan aimed at advancing the professionalization of freeride through education and events. Each week promises thrilling competitions, including South America’s first-ever Junior 3* event and the highly anticipated return of professional Adult 4* events to the Andes.

Meanwhile, details for events at Las Leñas in Argentina are expected to be released soon, promising even more high-stakes freeride action. Stay tuned for further announcements!

Las Lenas Ski Resort, situated in the Mendoza Province just 50 miles from Malargue, Argentina, will host Las Lenas Freeride Week from September 3-8, featuring Junior 2* and Qualifier 2* & 3* events throughout the week. With vast off-piste options, freeriders can explore numerous chutes, bowls, and split board terrain.

Registration for Freeride Chile and Freeride Argentina events opens June 18. For more information and to register, visit www.ifsafreeride.org.

Southern Hemisphere Junior Freeride Soars: Unprecedented Growth and Global Connection

Junior athlete participation in South America is surging. Numbers have doubled. We project 200 competitors for the 2024 season. This marks a key moment for IFSA. Our influence now spans four countries in the Americas.

This growth opens big doors for South American athletes. They can now directly qualify for the prestigious Junior Freeride Championship in North America. Last April, nine talented South American freeriders qualified. They competed in Breckenridge, Colorado. The 2025 IFSA Junior Freeride Championship will be at Kirkwood Mountain Resort. It runs from April 6-13 in California.

The South American freeride season offers a unique chance for North American athletes. They can extend their competitive season. They can also experience new cultures. For South American athletes, competing in North America offers invaluable experience and exposure. This cultural exchange unifies freeride across the Americas. It enriches the global freeride community. It also builds a sense of global citizenship among athletes. This not only elevates the competition but also strengthens bonds worldwide.
